"Stop. Look. Listen."

Stop.
"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).

Stop and think about what God says in this verse.  Set aside some time to sit down with and dwell upon this passage by reflecting and meditating on the following five sentences:

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know. 
Be still.
Be.

Look.
". . . fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith" (Hebrews 12:2).

Contemplative Bible reading helps us fix our eyes on Jesus.  Use the following outline to look at the life of Jesus, for example, when He walked on water (Matthew 14:22-33).

Relax physically so you can focus spiritually.
Read the biblical passage slowly to yourself.
Reflect on a word or phrase that strikes you.
Respond by quietly talking and listening to God.
Repeat the above if your mind starts to wander.

Listen.
"This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!" (Matthew 17:5).

"Listen to Him!"  This is easier said than done considering all the noise we surround ourselves with in our fast paced lives.  Schedule into your calendar some time of solitude and silence.  Make an actual appointment (time and place) with Jesus this week.  Use the time to "wait upon the Lord" and pay attention to His "still small voice."
